Fossil Knob Ridge is located on a hillside 1.75 miles from the Terlingua Ghost Town. No neighbors share the last 3/4 mile of unpaved road into the property, so we enjoy seclusion yet are still close to town. Fossil Knob Ridge overlooks Terlingua in the foreground, and enjoys a breathtaking view of the Chisos and Big Bend National Park.

Your hardest decision of the day should be whether to have your coffee on the porch or from your bed, shouldn't it? Out here, the view is bigger than any window you can put in front of it! We designed our windows and our porches to give you enough room to enjoy that view. Did you know, at Fossil Knob Ridge, the sun sets in the east? Come see it to believe it...
Dark Sky Certified
Our outdoor lighting provides a safe, romantic atmosphere that's just perfect for enjoying the famous Class I Dark Skies that Big Bend has to offer. We have been accredited by the McDonald Observatory as fully compliant with all their dark-sky recommendations. Astronomy buffs can bring their telescopes, and amateur enthusiasts should at least bring binoculars. Enjoy s'mores by the fire pits and wonder at the universe.
On-The-Grid Convenience
We are "on the grid," yet still practice ecologically-friendly conservation. That way, you don't have to worry about whether there's enough power or water for the perfect vacation. Check out the pages for the individual units to see their specific amenities.
WiFi for those who just can't quite unplug
We know the appeal of leaving those devices behind. But, we realize that you might need to check your email or enjoy a movie night with your loved ones. We also cater to those who need to "flexcation," using part of their day to work remotely (VERY remotely) and the rest to relax and explore. We provide blazing-fast WiFi, but it's up to you whether to let the rest of the world in!
Book one or more: but what about neighbors?
Our rentals are "socially distanced" from each other. They are separated by the hillside and offer private porches and views. Separate parties can enjoy privacy and seclusion from each other, while larger groups could rent multiple houses and enjoy being in close walking distance to each other. We do provide a discount for those renting multiple units. We carefully planned to accommodate everything from an intimate couple's retreat to a family reunion.
